FL Studio 7 Tip: Improve Performance on Dual-core and Multithreaded Processors

FL Studio 7 supports performance improvements for dual-core, multi-core, and multithreaded processors. Turn on multi-threaded generator processing via the menu OPTIONS-> General settings, and click the button indicated in the diagram above.

What does this do? Here is what the help file has to say about this feature:

"Multithreaded generator processing - If you have a multi-core or multithreading processor this option will distribute the CPU load of compatible generators across the cores improving performance. "

SampleRobot - A Fast Way to Clone Your Old Hardware Synthesizers

Looking for a way to sample your hardware-based keyboards into your software sampler? Take a look at Sample Robot. It's a software utility that lets you clone musical instruments by automating the process of sampling external instruments so you can build software versions.

The software uses MIDI to programmatically send note-on messages in various keyboard ranges and velocities to your external instrument. It then records the output of the instrument into samples files. These files can then be imported into software samplers.

A new version 2.50 has just released.  According to the press release:

"With the new generation 2.50 of
award-winning audio software SKYLIFE SampleRobot it is now even easier and
faster to clone musical instruments. In addition to the new Project Wizard a
lot of functions have been included to make SampleRobot an indispensable
creative tool for composers, music producers and sound designers.
Furthermore all SampleRobot products include hundreds of megabytes of high
quality and rare synthesizer multi-samples."

30 New Free Drum Kits for FL Studio FPC

Image-Line has released 30 free new drum kit's for FL Studio's FPC drum synth. As shown in above illustration, use the built-in download manager to access the kits.

According to Image Line:
"The "real" drums were recorded in as non-invasive a way as possible. No EQ, no compression, nothing but a drum and a microphone (or two). This was done so that the end user could modify the sound of each drum to his or her liking. They were recorded using the best mic for each specific drum. So the range of microphones used were pretty big. AKG C1000's, Octava MK-012's, and Shure PG81's were used as overheads. AKG D112, Shure Beta 52 and Sennheiser MD421MKII's were used for Kicks and Low toms. Sennheiser MD421MKII's, Shure Beta 98DS's, Sure SM57's and Sennheiser e604's were used on toms. A Shure SM57, Rode NT1a, and a and a Shure Beta98DS."

Synth Pioneers DEVO New Song "Watch Us Work It" in Dell Commercial

According to a recent Devo fan clup newsletter:

"DEVO wrote a new song called "Watch Us Work It" and recorded at Mutato Muzika in Los Angeles, CA, and produced by Sweden's famous Teddy Bears. DELL heard it because Paul Malmstrom and Linus Karlsson at the Mother agency in NYC played it for them as a possibility for a song for their TV campaign featuring a newly developed, high-end laptop computer. DELL liked it, and now you can hear this brand new DEVO song when you watch the commercial currently running on nationwide TV.
The song is now available on iTunes! Download it here.
