Solid Sounds Free Live Pack for Ableton Live

Ableton just posted "Solid Sounds". It's  a free Live Pack for registered Live/Live LE users and contains over 400 MB of content featuring 400 loops, 128 Simpler presets and 12 creative instrument Racks in a variety of musical styles. The library was created in collaboration with Loopmasters.

Samples are loaded under "Samples->Loopmasters".

Simpler presets are under "Instruments->Simpler->Loopmasters".

 

Racks are under "Instruments->Instrument Rack->Loopmasters".

 

The racks are setup so that Macro knob 1 allows you to quickly scroll through layers in a rack. Very cool!

Adding Realistic Drums to Your Virtual Studio

There are many products on the market that allow you to add realistic acoustic drum kits to your virtual studio. These products offer something above and beyond simple one-shot samples of drum sounds with features such as:

• Multi-samples of expensive drum kits so that notes played at different velocities reflect the nuance of the real thing.
• Drum hits recorded with different sticks, brushes, mics and mic placements with the ability to mix between mics allowing you to tweak mic and room dynamics for each channel.

Puremagnetik Releases Guitar Rack Volume 2

Puremagnetik has released the second edition Guitar Rack Micropak. It contains an assortment of captured acoustic guitar chord menus, articulations and loop phrases. The Micropak is sustomized for Ableton Sampler, Kontakt 2 and EXS24.

According to Puremagnetick marketing info:

Ableton Live and Kontakt versions contain extensively programmed integrated effects and dynamic controls for easy editing and tone sculpting. Over 60 high quality loops, riffs and phrases are also included with Guitar Rack Volume 2. Ableton Live users can take advantage of Live Clips with integrated Macro controls. Kontakt users can instantly load loops in .nki format with full KSP editing functions while Logic and Garageband users can take advantage of these sounds in Apple Loop format.

Using the highest quality Schoeps 221B tube microphones combined with API 512c preamps, this acoustic guitar was meticulously captured in 24-bit stereo.

Free Ableton Live Pack by Dennis DeSantis

Eariler this year, Computer Music magazine had a special issue on Ableton Live 6 with an exclusive Live Pack designed by Dennis DeSantis. The issue sold out making the Live Pack difficult to come by. Good news, Ableton has made the Live Pack available for free on their web site, get it here - The Dennis DeSantis Live Pack.

The pack contains "a number of pads, electronic percussion samples and effects, all saved in easy-to-use Instrument and Effect Racks. There's also an instructional demo set that showcases many of these racks."

On a side note, Ableton has since hired DeSantis as their  "Head of Documentation"

Espionage and Other Free Presets for Ableton Live 6 by The Covert Operators

Looking for some free presets for Ableton Live 6? Checkout the Covert Operators download page at http://www.thecovertoperators.org/archives/category/downloads/.

The newest download they offer is Espionage - a collection of sounds from from their past and future commercial projects. Presets include select sounds from SoundWrecks, Surgical Tools Vol1, and previews from the upcoming The Muses: Covert Midi Effects, The Muses: Covert Audio Effects, and Constructs.

Note: Live 6.0.3 or higher is required to use this pack. The pack is not compatible with older versions of Live.
