u-he Releases BAZILLE 1.0 - A Modular Synthesizer Plugin

bazille_640x348

u-he released their new modular synthesizer plugin today - BAZILLE 1.0.

We are happy to announce the release of Bazille 1.0 for Mac OS X and Windows (VST2, AU & AAX formats - 32bit & 64bit).

Here is a demo video. http://youtu.be/raxOQm03giA.

Bazille is a large modular system combining digital oscillators with analogue-style filters and modelled effects, with a flexibility that only modular patching can provide.

After ACE, the second spawn of our ongoing 'Berlin Modular' project, this one is a very different, much larger beast...

Those in the know have been waiting for this since 2009. Read Urs' own story here.

As a HUGE fan of u-he’s ACE (see my “u-he ACE Tutorial: Patch Cables 101” video) which is all over my last two albums – I’m pretty excited about this release.

I did dabble and post out on some early betas. Here was one of the first patches from INIT I created and posted to soundloud. Fun Stuff!

In this patch, OSC2 freq is modulating OSC 1. OSC1 phase distortion is being modulated with an LFO run through a lag generator. OSC1 is routed to filter and the cutoff is being modulated with the morphing sequencer. LFO2 is driving Factalize (kind of like sync). All the movement is in the patch. I'm just holding down a single key in different octaves.

Bazille’s special introductory price of $89 (+ VAT in the EU) has been extended until October 15. After that, the regular price is $129 (+ VAT in the EU).

U-HE Bazille: Public Beta + 30% Discount + First Patch + How To Video

I mentioned in an earlier post that U-HE was about to release Bazille. Good news – it’s now in public beta. You can get the beta here  http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=411650.

U-HE is also offering a discount while the instrument is in beta.

If you're amazed by what you hear, you can purchase Bazille now at a 30% discount until two or three weeks after release (estimated for July 1). Purchase Bazille here [$89].

I downloaded it yesterday and am really enjoying it. Here is one of my first patches (screen shot of this patch is first image in post).

If this al seems a bit confusing – or you just want a nice overview of Bazille’s general workflow check out this nice how to video by ADSR Sounds.

First Screenshot, Feature List, and Sneak Preview Videos for U-HE Bazille Modular FM and Phase Distortion Synthesizer

  Basille

U-HE just posted a screenshot of their forthcoming synth Bazille on their Facbook page today (click the image above to see a full-sized screenshot.. The KVR page was also updated with a list of features and  and listed price as $129 http://www.kvraudio.com/product/bazille-by-u-he.

Bazille is a modular FM and Phase Distortion Synthesizer. It's modular engine allows for patching of any signal output into any signal input, regardless of signal type. This makes Bazille a sibling of ACE, but it caters for a digital synthesis paradigm rather than for subtractive (virtual analogue) synthesis.

  • hybrid modular system: digital oscillators, analogue filters - unlimited patching capabilities.
  • 4 oscillators with simultaneous FM (phase modulation, linear / exponential / relative FM), PD (phase distortion) and FR (fractal resonance).
  • 4 multimode analogue type filters, 2 of which have 6 parallel outputs.
  • 4 ADSR envelopes, 2 LFOs with multiple outputs, 2 ramp generators.
  • 2 modulation maps (can be used as oscillator waveforms), lag processors, quantizer, inverters, rectifiers, sample&hold.
  • morphing snapshot sequencer: 8 slots of 16 steps each (splittable into 4, 8 or 12-step units).

The product page http://www.u-he.com/cms/bazille has been updated as well…

BAZILLE, the modular monster. After ACE, the second spawn of our ongoing 'Berlin Modular' project, this one is a very different, much larger beast...

When will it be done? Developer Urs said this on a KVR thread…
